Shane was admitted as a solicitor in New South Wales in 2008 and joined Bannermans Lawyers in 2010.


Before joining Bannermans Lawyers, Shane practiced as a solicitor within the Master Builders Association of New South Wales and provided advice and representation to large and small builders, trade contractors and various suppliers to the building industry in relation to a range of issues, including:


  • Contract negotiation and formation of cost plus, lump sum, architect administered, design and construct, project management, trade sub-contracts and the drafting of special clauses
  • Contractual compliance and compliance with the Home Building Act in relation to issues involving access, payment claims, variations, extensions of time, delay, prime cost items and provisional sums, suspension and termination of works, repudiation and other issues
  • Claims involving negligence, particularly in relation to building services, building materials and products
  • Dispute resolution in relation to disputes involving payment claims, building defects, extensions of time, and variations
  • Debt recovery and the enforcement of judgment debts
  • Making and resisting statutory demands
  • Defending building defect claims in the NSW Civil and Administrative Tribunal, Local Court and District Court
  • All aspects of debt recovery and adjudication under the Building and Construction Industry Security of Payment Act

As a Special Counsel in the building and construction litigation team Shane continues to represent builders in relation to the issues above and also represents group title entities in relation to the resolution of building defects claims in the Supreme Court and the NSW Civil and Administrative Tribunal, recovery under home warranty insurance policies, compliance with development consent conditions and council orders (in particular fire orders) and contracts for defect remedial works.
