Corinne has been working at Bannermans since October 2018. Prior to joining Bannermans, Corinne worked at a community legal centre as a tenant advocate, and then following admission to the Supreme Court of NSW, she worked in commercial litigation across a range of areas including insurance, personal injury, and construction.

 

Since joining Bannermans, Corinne works primarily with the Construction team and undertakes the following:

 

Strata

  • Advising owners and owners corporations about development, property and strata issues;
  • Advising on and drafting applications and responses in the NSW Civil and Administrative Tribunal;
  • Appearing at the NSW Civil and Administrative Tribunal for owners and owners corporations for strata issues, including for appeals;
  • Advising owners corporations and owners on related residential tenancy issues;
  • Assisting owners corporations with insurance issues in relation to legal defence cover, repair and maintenance obligations;
  • Advising owners corporations in relation to Fire Orders, particularly in respect to combustible cladding; and
  • Representing owners and owners corporations in the District Court regarding claims under statute, contract and tort.

Construction

  • Advising owners corporations on building defects, insurance claims, legal remedies, relevant limitations periods and current issues such as combustible cladding;
  • Acting for owners corporations in building defect claims in the NSW Civil and Administrative Tribunal and NSW Supreme Court;
  • Drafting initiating applications and pleadings for building defect claims in the NSW Civil and Administrative Tribunal and the Supreme Court for owners corporations;
  • Appearing at the NSW Civil and Administrative Tribunal and the Supreme Court for owners corporations;
  • Reviewing building contracts and advising builders and owners corporations;
  • Briefing and engaging with technical building experts such as consultant specialists, surveyors and engineers;
  • Advising on and negotiating access deeds for owners of properties which adjoin developments;
  • Advising owners and owners corporations in relation to enforcement of judgements and costs orders, cost recovery and cost assessment;
  • Assisting owners corporations in relation to the enforcement and supervision of work orders and settlement agreements for rectification works;
  • Participating in alternative dispute resolution, including mediation and expert determination; and
  • Advising on and drafting settlement deeds and agreements.

  • Graduate Diploma of Legal Practice 2017
  • Bachelor of Laws with Honours (Macquarie University) 2017
  • Bachelor of Arts - Psychology (Macquarie University) 2013
  • Member of the Law Society of NSW
