Banjo Stanton

Banjo specialises in resolving construction, insurance and strata disputes. Prior to initially joining Bannermans Lawyers in 2010, Banjo worked for 10 years in some of Sydney’s leading insurance practices during which he primarily acted in building and professional indemnity disputes. Banjo re-joined Bannermans Lawyers as a partner in 2024 after 10 years of sole practice.

Banjo enjoys a highly strategic approach to resolving disputes and considering all possibilities for achieving good and early outcomes for his clients. As an experienced specialist ‘litigator’, Banjo has the extensive and in-depth knowledge of Court and Tribunal procedures necessary to properly identify and implement the best strategy for the particular circumstances of each matter while also recognising and effectively responding to the strategies being used by opponents.

Banjo has particularly strong expertise in pursuing and defending building defect claims and home warranty insurance (now HBCF) claims and has been retained as an expert witness in relation to how such claims should be managed. He also has substantial expertise in all aspects of:

  • Pursuing and defending claims against all kinds of construction professionals;
  • Repair and maintenance related strata disputes;
  • Compulsory strata manager related strata disputes;
  • Defending claims against managing agents;
  • Providing policy cover advice and acting in disputes concerning construction insurances, professional indemnity insurance and property insurance;
  • Pursuing and defending professional negligence claims against numerous types of non-construction related professions;
  • Using independent expert procedures as a conflict minimisation and resolution tool; and
  • Appearing at mediations.

Banjo has also dedicated a large amount of time over the years to advocating for law reforms that reduce building defects and increase accountability for building defects.
