Matthew Kudla

Matthew is a Lawyer at Bannermans and forms part of our specialist building and construction team. Matthew has considerable experience in advising and acting for owners corporations against builders, developers and contractors in building defect claims.

Matthew has represented clients in a range of jurisdictions; including the NSW Civil and Administrative Tribunal (NCAT), District Court of NSW and Supreme Court of NSW.

His expertise has been essential in navigating complex legal challenges in the construction sector, where he provides valuable guidance to clients engaged in various projects and disputes.

By ensuring swift communication and transparency, Matthew is able provide tailored legal solutions that meet clients’ specific needs. His ability to simplify complex legal concepts ensures clients remain informed throughout the process.

Areas of Expertise

Since joining Bannermans in January 2022, Matthew has worked on a large range of construction matters undertaking the following work:

  • Acting for strata schemes of various types and sizes, against Builders and Developers in building defects claims;
  • Advising owners corporations on building defects, insurance claims, legal remedies and relevant limitation periods;
  • Appearing on behalf of owners corporations in building defect claims in the NSW Civil & Administrative Tribunal and Supreme Court of NSW in directions hearings;
  • Experienced in both the NSW Civil & Administrative Tribunal and Supreme Court of NSW disputes for all home building applications;
  • Providing advice to owners corporations, Builders and Developers on the Design & Building Practitioners Act 2020;
  • Acting for homeowners in building defects claims;
  • Assisting clients with contract negotiations, Fair Trading disputes and HBCF insurance claims.

Qualifications/Memberships

  • Bachelor of Laws (University of Technology, Sydney) 2020;
  • Bachelor of Medical Sciences (University of Technology, Sydney) 2020;
  • Admitted as a Lawyer of the Supreme Court of NSW;
  • Member of the Law Society of NSW.
