Project Intervene

The registration date for an owners corporation to register for the program has been extended to 30 November 2023.

Benefits Include:

  • The owners obtain the benefit of a free inspection by Sedgwick’s loss assessor.
  • The owners will not pay those costs, nor the Fair Trading’s ongoing costs as it will seek to recover those costs from a solvent builder or developer.

We recognise that there are benefits and strengths to Project Intervene, however:

  • Project Intervene does not accept all applications made within
  • An application to Project Intervene does not extend any warranty periods and the scheme will need to ensure it commences proceedings to preserve its statutory warranties and avoid being time barred.
  • Without supporting reports from the owners corporation Project Intervene will, in our experience, seek rectification of substantially less defects, including non- serious and lot property defects, than experts engaged by the owners corporations would identify, leaving the scheme having to pay for unidentified defects.
  • If an Order is issued it will be published on the Construct NSW website and possibly in the media, which may adversely affect owners capital.
