“I am going to shoot you” – When Levies go too far

Posted 10 August 2021

Category: Levy Recovery

Just when we thought our levy recovery team had heard it allā€¦.we were wrong.

ā€œIā€™m going to get a gun and shoot youā€. Not the most conventional way to get out of paying levies but there it was!

After initially just thinking someone was obviously having a bad day, the realisation kicked in and we were left with no other option but to take this seriously.

It is one thing to threaten a Bannermans staff member, but to then also direct this threat to a Strata Manager, not on our watch!

Police were called and were in our office in a flash. Statements were taken, and off they went to chat to this rather cranky lot owner.

Almost 18 months later we received the call to take the stand. We did, and we won!

After 2 days in court justice prevailed. This cranky lot owner was issued with a fine and a 12-month good behaviour bond.

Whilst levy recovery action is still proceeding, the managing agent can safely go on to do what they do best and leave the rest with us.
